The Planning and Monitoring Board was approved to be established by the University Syndicate in Feb., 1978 and subsequently, the office of Director, Planning and Monitoring (DPM) was established in Nov., 1984. This office functions as under
At present, Dr. Sanjiv Puri, Professor (Physics) is the Director, Planning and Monitoring. The DPM office is responsible for performing administrative work related to planning and monitoring including approval for opening / closing of degree/diploma/certificate programs in different departments at the university campus / neighbourhood campuses / constituent colleges; facilitate the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Punjabi University and various National / International Organisations / Companies / Industries for benefit of the students and faculty; conduct of Planning and Monitoring Board meetings. Besides, this office provides administrative assistance to get approvals for consultancy work from competent university authorities and forwarding of individual / departmental research proposals to various funding agencies. This office also ensures work coordination among three cells associated with the DPM.

The IPR Cell was established in the Punjabi University as per UGC guidelines with the objective to create awareness about Intellectual Property rights. Its routine activities are managed by the Dy Coordinator, Dr. Balwinder Singh Sooch (Prof., department of Biotechnology). This cell provides assistance on all issues related to Property Rights / Copy rights / Patents / Technology Transfer.
